I shall save the next entry for my updates on ESE. Looking forward to tomorrow. Pretty short day. I can leave the school at 12.30pm on fridays, not 4pm as mentioned before. And also, its going to be a long weekend. Monday is a youth day holiday..yay!

~flew by @ 8:45 PM

Monday, June 26, 2006

Just came back from my first day of ESE. By 7am, I had to report to the school office. So for the next 4 weeks, my days will start from 7am till 2.30pm, except for Fridays, where I only end at 4pm. Crap. But then again, it should'nt be too boring when I have the company of other student teachers around. Altogether, there are 8 of us either fr the diploma prog or the PGDE prog. I'm like the second youngest student teacher there. The youngest is only 20, teaching music. Her name is Angel fyi, and can say that I easily clicked with her.
.
The staff there are also nice people, especially the ones in charge of us trainee teachers. My class observations only start tomorrow. So, just now, I only had to relief one class. Very energetic bunch of sec 1 kids. Give me some time. I'll tame them...haha
.
Tomorrow, the principal is introducing the trainee teachers in front of the whole school during assembly. So paiseh sia.. And oh yah, I have yet to find out the nicknames that the students gave me. Cos during the TPP, the speaker told us to be prepared that such a thing is common esp in a secondary sch setting..haha
.
In all, my first day didnt make me serik or reconsider becoming a full-fletched teacher. Which is a good sign :-)

It's my first week at NIE. So far, everything is well. I made quite a lot of new friends. Most of them are from NUS also, its just that we never tegur one another before..hehe. Just now was the first session of the Teaching Preparatory Program (TPP). Wasnt actually looking forward to that cos it stretched from 8.30am to 5.30pm. But then, the speaker was really entertaining and he shared lots of his life stories and experiences as an ex-teacher and principal. There's another session tomorrow before I start on the Enchance School Experience (ESE) next week. Luckily I am posted to a secondary school in Tampines. So that saves a lot of time on travelling, esp when I have to be in the school by 7.15am! I'm nervous and at the same time excited about ESE. But hey, it's something every student teacher has to go through.
.
Accompanied Shereen to shop just now together with Aisah (this is a different Aisah, girls =>) and Anna at Jurong Point (JP). Like what I told Nasz, JP has become my new port to hang out..haha. Then he said "Gd lah, biasa2 kan pegi JP. Then in the future senang." Of cos, I know what he means by that. We had that discussion before and I'm not going to mention about it again till the time is right. There's quite a number of sensitive issues to consider, but oh well, like i said before, we shall just live a day at a time..haha
.
Meeting him tomorrow after the TPP. I think I need to get some working pants and tops. Also, I will need shoes and a handbag..haha And I can't believe I got allowance from my parents this month. For this month only, since I haven't get my first pay..hehe
.
I shall take my leave now. Need to iron my clothes for tomorrow. Till then.

Brand new week
.
Plans for today? Clean up my room, esp my study desk. I have yet to get rid of my last semester's lecture notes and books. Feel like getting a new study table. Just a simple one from IKEA will do. At least, it'll create more space in my room. Or maybe not. Cos I want to get a bigger bed! haha But that one can put on hold first.
.
Going for a syarahan at al-ansar mosque with kisha tonight. Syarahan kaper? haha..Usually I would say "oh, i'm meeting up with the girls to lepak.." but today, we're going for a syarahan ok. Don't play2..hehe Well, we must have a balance of both worlds right? So, once in a while, go mosque pulak la :-)
.
Early day for me tomorrow. NIE registration cum matriculation. I shall take note of the travelling time and all, to mentally prepare myself for the long journey in the early mornings. If my other friends are not staying in hostel, then I doubt I want to. Suffer for one semester nvm la. If my dad is nice enough, he would get me a car! haha..dream on!
.
I'm meeting Nasz tmr after the registration. One good thing is that, it'll be easier for us to meet once im in NIE. We can just meet at Boon Lay mrt. However, I'm not sure abt the schooling hours. What I heard is that, it'll take up the whole day. Furthermore, like what one of my seniors, Asnur, said "there's no such thing as skipping lectures and coming in late, unlike in NUS.." The last time i checked, my punctuality is still far from excellent..haha but i'm working on it, dont worry :-)

Mission accomplished.
.
The surprise birthday party for Kisha was a success. Though there were some panicky moments before that, like how she kept insisting that she's occupied the whole day, she got sabo-ed in the end..haha lucky her, we only used water bombs.
Pics of the sabo-ing in action. (dah lama tak buat keje mcm gini! & definitely brings out the child in each of us.)
.

After the sabo-ing ended, we went up to nisa's place to cut the cake. Its from The Royals. Chocolate Truffle Delight. One word: Yummy!

*bday girl with her cake*

*we chose green for the occasion*

*from that special someone*

*engrossed in the l'occitane products from me and nasz*

Guessed the pics said it all. The food was great, so was the company. In all, we had a blast! Esp the star of the day, who lived up to her nick: 'blur queen' haha. Nonetheless, we all love you Qucihe!

.

Nasz and me left the party around 9pm cos i need to drive him back home. It was such a nice ride home, listening to class 95's love songs. We had some 'deep' conversations pertaining to our future. I like it when he initiates such topics cos that shows he's already thinking about the times to come, you see. Let's just say the future holds lots of possibility and uncertainty. Thus, we have no idea what the future holds for us. But we promised ourselves to work things out and not give up easily. For some unknown reason, I have a strong feeling that we'll be holding true to that. I simply love the way things are now and hopefully this love will last till eternity. For now, we'll just live a day at a time ok, dear.

.

Oh yah, I just found out that I still can use concession fares for the ez-link. Deng! So my dad kindly offered to pay for the my train and bus concession when we went out for dinner just now..haha save sikit duit tambang.

.

p/s: i know this entry is extra long. Pls bear with my long-windedness :-)

I'm watching spore idol results show at the moment. Not really a big fan of it, but that Hady guy is cute la.. Of course, he has singing talents too. And he's going to the next round..yay!! Guess my taste for guys havent change from last time. Yang mata sepet2 tu la yang i berkenan..hehe Well, if he goes to the finals, I don't mind investing my 60cents voting for him :-)
.
I washed my toilet today. I repeat, MY toilet..haha My mum must be pleasantly surprised when I said I wanna wash my toilet. Cos normally, I need to be asked to wash it..hehe But then again, I cant stand the 'soap scums and grimmy stains on the bathroom walls and shower screen' (does this phrase sounds familiar?). I'm very cerewet u see. I hate it when other people use MY toilet and wet the floor. The shower screen is there for a purpose. To separate the dry and wet part of the toilet. When the dry part is wet, I get pissed. Cos you never know it might be 'urine that didnt go into the toilet bowl' that you're stepping on..haha so geli rite? So if I see the floor wet, I'll just take the water spray which is meant for istinjak and wet the whole floor again just to make sure no urine residue is left behind. Yes, call me a clean freak.
.
Also did the laundry and fold the huge pile of clothes on my bed. So, I live up to the name of being an 'anak dara yg tau buat kerja rumah' today..haha

~flew by @ 8:53 PM

Its my dear friend's birthday today. Happy 22nd bday Kisha!
.

Went to visit another girlfriend, Ita, at East Shore hospital just now. The doctor said she suffered from a brain infection but it's not that serious. I pray that she gets well soon and hopefully, she can resume with her daily activities.

.

Just now was the first time Nasz met up with the girls. After almost 2 years with me, now then he got to meet them in person. As expected he was very quiet and shy. So he just sat at one corner of the ward while they rest of us girls were being as kecoh as always, crowding Ita around her bed. Thank god for the tv, broadcasting the world cup match, he managed to distract himself. I guess he's overwhelmed by our kecoh-ness..haha Well, I'm sure he'll be one of us soon if he keeps on hanging out with us. Well, there are more opportunities for that I'm sure.

.

I actually met up with Nasz earlier for our movie date at PS. I finally caught x-men 3. Oh, and also to get my long overdue bday present. Yes, my bday was in apr, but now then i get my present. But it's worth the wait. I simply love what he got for me. Thanks dear! Thanks for the present, company and sweet gestures just now. I heart you so much!!

.

And also I received my bday gift from the girls via registered postage. By right, all of us staying in Tampines, thus can easily meet up to pass me the gift. But no, they chose to post it instead..haha So yah, that's two birthday presents from the special people in my life in a week. Maybe I should just declare my bday to be in june huh? So the presents would'nt be so basi..hehe Nevertheless, my motto for that is: biar lambat, asal dapat! =>

.

Ok, I guess today shall be stay-at-home day for me. I've been going out since monday and that simply means I've been spending alot of money too. Not to mention, topping up the ez-link card itself is already causing a huge hole in my wallet..hehe Tmr there's another 'project' to be done, which will take up almost half of the day. So i better show my face at home for at least one whole day before my mum starts her usual lecture, though she havent been nagging at me for quite some time..haha (that's so unlike her..but i like.)

I didn't know i'm capable of spending a lot at the supermarket. Actually, i only plan to get the ingredients for the brownies (suddenly, i feel like baking brownies). I ended up buying other stuff' such as whipped cream and caramel syrup. Oh well, at least now i can make myself home-made caramel frappucino whenever i feel like having one.
.
Just ordered another 7 pairs of birkenstocks just now. Of cos, they're not mine. I take the orders only. I feel like a non-profit organisation already, taking orders w/o commission..haha
.
I'm meeting Nasz for a movie tmr. He's been bugging me to watch movie. Wonder what show he plans to watch. I have a feeling its either the omen or benchwarmers. Apparently, he's been asking me out alot these days. We're meeting on wed and also fri this week. Not that I'm complaining la. That's the last thing I wanna do. Only that things were very different last time, which made me reflect on those times when we used to quarrel over the lack of time he had for me; which led to our '2 wks of breather'.
.
Since then, our relationship improved alot. Feels refreshed. I guess in a relationship, having some hiccups along the way help you treasure your partner more and appreciate him/her better. I still remember kisha's comment during our recent outing when she asked how are things between me and nasz. I didn't actually notice that change in me. So I asked nasz if he sees it. He said "betul la tu kisha ckp.." Nevertheless, it's a positive comment and hopefully, I'm able to remain like that for a long time.
.
Its a brand new week tmr and the following week, NIE starts. Pretty excited about it and I found out my jc friends, shereen and anna, will also be going to NIE. So that means we get to meet during our English lessons. Left only this week to slack and i'll make sure to make full use of it!

Cont'd
.
This entry is supposed to be with the previous one. But somehow, the pics refuse to upload. Oh crap.
.
Anyhoos, moving on to another type of train in Tokyo. Its the Tokyo disneyland line train. Very cosy and well-furnished indeed. Just look at the interior..
.

cute rite? cushioned seats..look at the handrails and mickey mouse-shaped windows!

.

Next, is their toilet. I tell you, they have the cleanest public toilet! Its nothing like our toilets at the mrt stations. Plus, it's equipped with high-tech gadgets, almost everything is automatic.

.

Istinjak is just a button away. There are two buttons to choose from. One to wash the front part, the other is the back part. So pandai2 la korang imagine. Hehe.. You can also adjust the volume of the flush. Who knows you feel like peeing in the middle of the night, but dont want to wake other people up with the sound of the flush. Such considerate people these Japanese inventors. Haha.

.

This one is the sanitary napkin disposal bin. U just place your hand above the sensor and the lid will automatically lift itself up. Like what is shown on the right pic. So no worries abt being unhygienic and all. Cool bananas.

.

I guess that's about all things that catches my attention there. That's just after one week. Imagine if I had stayed longer. Wonder what else will I discover.

Here's the entry that I promised. Just to share some things that I came across while in Tokyo, which can't be found here.
.
So here goes:
.
Taken in the subway aka Tokyo Metro
.

It says "Please turn off your mobile phone near 'courtesy seats'."

.

The courtesy seat is like the one found at our mrt, whereby we are encouraged to give up the seats to someone who needs it more than we do. But in Singapore, there's no such thing as switching of hp. Maybe the people who sits in the courtesy seat section have a high probability of getting a heart attack or they might even drop dead upon hearing the loud ringtone from hps..haha

.

Another sign that says "Please set ur mobile phone to silent mode..". The scene in the tokyo subway is nothing different from our mrt. I see people fiddling with their hps, either sending sms or playing games. But the amazing thing is that, not once did i hear any ringing tones in the subway. I bet if there is no such thing as switching their hps to silent mode, i'd be hearing all sorts of funny tones and music. Their hp models there more canggih than ours ok.. I hardly see any two persons with the same hp model..so u can imagine the variety of hp models they have there..

.

My favourite section of the subway.

.

Singapore should definitely adopt this measure. The Japanese practised this and they are not viewed as a backward society. It's just that women should be given the privilege to sit esp during peak hours. The scenario in Singapore's mrt is the total opposite. Everytime I see, its the males who are slumping away in their seats, snoozing away while the females try to get their balance as the train occasionally jerks. Where's the gentleman-ness in our Singaporean men? I wonder...

A parcel all the way from Germany was delivered to my house around noon just now. Simply means the Birkies and Papillios have arrived. Heard the doorbell when I got out of the shower and I heard my name mentioned. Straight away I knew that must be the shoes. Thank god my dad was around to pay for the tax charges. Guess I overlooked that matter. So that's an extra $37 which is going to be split among the five of us. Nevertheless, its still way cheaper purchasing online as compared to buying at wheelock or royal sporting hse. Much thanks to my jambu friend, dinah, who introduced me to the website =>
.

*all seven pairs*
.
Meeting up with the girls later for dinner. Actually I wanted to pass them their souvenirs from tokyo. But since the shoes have also arrived, might as well I pass the shoes today too.
.
Yesterday's date was nice. We caught the nun, which was so merepek. I asked to watch x-men 3, don't want. See, $15 wasted on a lame movie. Had our early dinner at Breeks. Then, walked ard DFS Millenia cos my dad asked to check out the Coach handbag for my mum. I think its quite expensive in Singapore cos prices range from $400. Actually, I was the one who mentioned about the handbag to my parents cos i saw a lot of people carrying Coach handbag in tokyo. Skali my mum pulak yang berkenan.. haha nvm la, i shall save up and ask whoever going to US to buy for me, cos I think its cheaper there.
.
And I also went to Tiffany & Co yesterday for the fun of it. First time I set my feet into the store. Thank god the sales person didnt shadow me around as if I'm gonna rob the store. Admired some nice rings, so I hint2 at Nasz.. haha Saw the charm bracelet also, which costs around $300 plus. At yahoo auction, a non-authentic one costs around $70 plus. So I asked myself whether I want the original or the fake 'grade A' one. Guess the answer is clear enough.

The trip to Tokyo was superb! I especially like the warm and friendly people there. Everytime my dad stop to ask for directions, they would try their best to help out eventhough they have difficulties speaking in English. Unlike Paris, where the people can be quite arrogant at times cos they wont layan us if we don't make the effort to speak french. I don't know why people associate Paris as a romantic place. If its only because of the Eiffel tower, then might as well forget about going to Paris. Its quite dirty there also..haha ok, i shall stop condemning Paris.
.
Back to Tokyo, mostly the things there are super duper expensive. I didnt do much shopping there. Neither did my family. Normally, we would borong lots of stuffs and souvenirs for family and friends in Singapore. In the end, I just bought some things from disneyland as souvenirs. Oh, also the MUJI stationeries. A bit cheaper than singapore's.
.
Speaking of disneyland, if any of you are thinking of going to disneyland, I recommend the one at LA. Of the 3 disneylands I've been to, nothing beats LA - its more original. Its so amusing to see the disney characters like mickey, minnie and goofy all pendek2 at tokyo disneyland. I was telling my dad, "mickey mouse kat sini pendek eh, kat LA tinggi2!" wahaha
.
But like i said, the reason i enjoyed tokyo was because of the people. They bow their heads almost everytime after saying arigato gozaimasu (thank you). My father also melayan them by bowing his head..haha and of course, how can i miss out the detail on the so many takeshi kaneshiro look-alikes there. I was feasting my eyes on the good-looking guys in suits taking the subway to work. They smell good too, especially in the morning la..hehe sorry kish, i didnt bring back any for you. Like she said, these men are potential men geishas. So i'd rather remain loyal to my 'muka jepun' bf in singapore..wahahha tak dpt takeshi kaneshiro lookalike, asalkan dpt yg muka mcm jepun pon jadi la :-p
.
If i'm not lazy, i'll upload the pics i took in tokyo. Not my pics though, but pics of various things or places in tokyo. I think my dad got ain's disease. He asked me to snap pics which we cant find in spore. And i tell you, there's quite a number of pelik2 but stylo-milo things there. Innovative indeed.
.
*can't wait for tomorrow. movie date with nasz. yay!*
